Larry Kasperek - "I spent most of my career as a photojournalist, giving readers a look at people in their infinite variety. But while striving to tell a story in pictures, I was often confronted with unusual situations that did not lend themselves to the pages of a daily newspaper. They were photographs waiting to be made, not part of a story line. My early work and still my preference, is in black and white. I was impressed, and hopefully influenced, early in my career by the works of Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus and Elliott Erwit (an unusual grouping). The content of the photos spoke out to me. Often, it was humor, irony or just the juxtaposition of elements that mattered. I don't necessarily see them as art until after the moment is frozen. Lately, I have been working with large format and stereo views." Click here or on the photo at left to see a gallery of Larry's photos. |
